Instructional Hours

  • School begins promptly at 7:45 am and students may arrive as early as 7:15 am.
  • School dismissal is at 2:45 pm.
  • Please help your child be on time so disruptions are minimized and the children receive maximum instructional time.

  • All visitors must sign in at the office upon arrival at school.
  • Please be sure to bring your driver’s license into the building with you.
  • Visitors may not go to classrooms during the instructional day unless prearranged with the teacher.
  • Visitors coming for lunch may meet classes outside the cafeteria.
  • When visiting the school, please do not park cars in the fire lane. Cars parked in the fire lane will receive a ticket. Thank you for your cooperation.

Early Dismissal

  • If you are picking your child up early from school, please send a note with your child so that the teacher has him/her packed up and ready to go when the office calls. This minimizes disruption to class time.
  • Please pick up your child before 2:15 pm to avoid being caught in dismissal and car pool and to ensure minimal disruptions to the end of the day classes.
  • In accordance with school policy, you may not go to the classroom to pick up your child.
  • For security purposes, CMS requires a picture ID from those who wish to pick up children from any Charlotte-Mecklenburg school. Please remember to bring your ID into the office with you.

Absentee Voicemail

Call the Elizabeth Lane Absentee Voicemail at 704-841-0590 as early as possible each time your child is absent.
Please do not leave messages regarding homework on this hotline, contact your teacher.

Illness

We ask that children be fever-free for 24-hours, without medication, before returning to school.

Items Left at Home

Please help your children become responsible students. Students should bring their own lunch boxes, school supplies, projects and proper clothing each day. Deliveries of these items during the school day are another interruption of the instructional program. Any emergency deliveries should be left in the office and will be put in the teacher’s mailbox in accordance with school policy.

Items Left in Classrooms

For safety and security reasons, classrooms will not be unlocked for students returning to school in the afternoon to retrieve books or homework. Please remind your child to pack up all homework, books, coats, shoes, lunchboxes, etc., at the end of the day.

Footwear

Please help your child choose appropriate shoes to wear/bring to school. Sandals, flip-flops and clogs are not good choices for PE class or recess time. We all want to keep our children safe from slips and falls.

Lost & Found

Be sure to check the Lost and Found often for lunch boxes, hats, gloves, jackets and sweaters. Items found in the school and outside on the grounds are put in the Lost and Found daily. Each month, items left in Lost and Found are donated to Thomasboro Elementary.

Health Room Needs

Our health room is in need of gently used clothing to loan to our students who may need to change clothes during the educational day. We need clothing, including socks and underclothes for boys and girls of all ages – elastic waist items are especially appreciated! When cleaning your closets, please remember the ELE health room. Thank you!

Remember to Register!

All volunteers for classrooms, media center, special projects, Junior Achievement, health room, field trips, test proctors, etc., please remember to register with CMS as a volunteer.
Also, remember to sign in on the volunteer computer to log in your hours, or be sure to log in your hours from your home computer.

Thank you for everything you do that makes ELE a great place to learn!
